Responsibilities:
- Unconventional Gas (UG) and Tight Oil (TO) are a fast growing business for the E&P industry and for Shell in particular. UG refers specifically to the resources of basin centred gas (BCG),shale gas,and coal bed methane (CBM). technologies and to address technical challenges in UG business
- Primary role is to identify/develop/mature relevant technologies that will enhance our Stimulation methodologies (e.g. novel proppant and frac fluid development, novel frac design methods) which fits in our R&D program of developing the next generation of Stimulation Methods
- In addition, along with CoE (Center of Excellence), support relevant field tests and operations
Principal Accountablilities: - HSE performance,commitment to Goal Zero
- Work with R&D team and UA/UI Ventures to develop and execute multi-year technology program
- Deliver key aspects of the Stimulation R&D program, in particular fracturing and completion technologies
- Integrate and link key aspects of production technology with other disciplines in support of the overall Technology Platform, especially in Wells and Water Management Programs
- Interpret R&D work to facilitate field implementations and operations
- Interface with other teams within the company, to support field pilot/commercial projects
- Demonstrated HSE commitment and performance will be important in this R&D environment
- Keep abreast of competitor, industry, and academic developments in the relevant fields
- Ability to work with and influence staff in a wide variety of fields, both office and site based
- Be an integral part of a team that is responsible for delivering a R&D program (Production Forecast and Stimulation)
Requirements:
- Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- Working effectively with multiple teams to deliver and secure buy in for complex technologies and projects
- Work effectively with stakeholders across company organizations (P&T, UA and UI)
- Coordinate and participate in extramural research programs
- Maintaining rigorous and disciplined approach to decision support
- Successful maturation of novel technologies, development and testing of recovery and treating processes for ultimate commercial success.
- Mentor Junior Staff
- Ten (10) plus years of relevant experience, with good background in production chemistry
- Bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering preferred
- Advanced degree (e.g. PhD) preferred
- Experience in field/well operation (stimulation design, injection design, well test operation, well completion)
- Experience in developing technology and applying new technical concepts
- Ability to integrate HSSE into Business Plans and Procedures
- Ability to make and communicate well-founded decisions
- Ability to communicate technical analysis effectively to management and technical professional
- Strong communication skills, an open-minded approach and excellent team working skills
- Ability to communicate technical analysis effectively to a broad range of potential stakeholders
