Shell Oil Products US is currently seeking a Control Systems Engineer for its Deer Park, Texas location.
Responsibilities:
In this position, you will be responsible for providing Control Systems engineering support to the Deer Park Refinery Production organization. Your primary focus will be the Hydroprocessing Operations area that includes SHCU/HP-1, CR-3, SGP, HDU-1 and Plat-II units. You may also from time to time provide backup support and/or additional support for Control Systems staff work or support to other areas of the refinery. You will interface on a routine basis with the Control Systems Instrument Inspector(s) assigned to the Operations areas, as well as others within the department and other engineering and maintenance departments. Key Accountabilities: · Comply with SDPR safety structure and work processes · Thorough understanding of process control technologies & instrumentation · Act as a key resource to the production/maintenance organizations on process control and instrumentation hardware issues · Provide support for existing DCS and computer control applications (tuning, applications programming, etc.) · Understand Instrumented Protective Functions · Identify potential control systems issues and responding appropriately · Identify and specify new control systems applications and/or upgrades to improve profitability and productivity · Support and be able to modify existing Advanced Process Control applications Provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA) team support as required · Participate in the OEMI (Operations, Engineering and Maintenance Interface) meetings for their areas of responsibility · Provide support to the ESP process · Provide control systems support for plant change and SDPR Project activities (if directed) · Make recommendations to improve chronic control system applications and/or hardware issues · Monitor the performance of the process control applications and systems, base layer and above · Pre-screen work for proposed profitability and technical assurance projects · Develop business cases for predominately control related projects · Work together with inspector in a team environment to address control and instrumentation issues · Support Operations/Maintenance during turnarounds, shutdowns and start-ups · Provide technical support for training of operators, crafts, inspectors and other engineering groups
Requirements:
To be considered for this position, you must possess a B.S. in Chemical Engineering or equivalent and have approximately 5 or more years if relevant professional exeprience. You will have manufacturing location or major projects experience. Hands-on experience in operating facility is preferred and DCS/Fieldbus knowledge is a big plus.
