Shell Canada is currently seeking a Business Plan Coordinator for Mine Planning located in Calgary, AB.

Responsibilities:


JOB PURPOSE:
The purpose of the role is to ensure proper development and coordination of the 10 year Bitumen Production Business Plan. The role will incorporate necessary linkage between short range plan execution, intermediate plan development and long term growth.The role will ultimately support operations ability to focus on execution of the one year plan while business plan development takes place within the Intermediate Planning team.

DIMENSIONS:
The Business Plan Coordinator role is a new one with Oilsands Operations and will require a significant planning background and business understanding to support functionality. Direct Reports = 0· Indirect Reports = Site Operations and Calgary Development teams, etc.
Strategic Partners: The partnership is a Joint Venture with Shell Canada Limited, Chevron Canada Ltd, and Marathon·JV reviews and approvals are often required to support future direction and growth

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Lead and conduct the 10 year Bitumen Production Business Plan development. Included will be oilsands production planning and profile development.
  • Accountable for business plan strategic development.·Accountable for business plan population and drafts.
  •  Works with mine planners, operations and process development personnel to incorporate necessary inputs into the business plan.
  • Works with the site business managers and others to populate and ensure timely/accurate updates of the Bitumen Production Business Plan’ development stages.
  • Interfaces with OSLT and Operations senior leadership on plan development.
  • Responsible for consolidation of business plan data including the profiling of production data, mobile equipment purchase and performance, capital costs, opex costs, fixed plant performance, etc.
  • Will work to develop the new ‘Intermediate Planning Team’ roles and responsibilities ensuring necessary duties and functions between the sites and growth are properly covered.
  • Mentorship of less experienced planners and engineers

KEY CHALLENGES:
  • Communication across many different divisions and teams that will be required to support business plan development
  • Integrating operational challenges and performance into business plans
  • Mine plan optimization given the challenges of production requirements and tailings containmentAchieving organizational objectives while integrating the mine plan across various sites



Requirements:


JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
 
  • Bachelors Degrees in Mining, Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the surface mining industry in large truck and shovel operations (oil sands experience preferred)
  • Field engineering and operating experience

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
 
  • Directly reports to Manager of Business Optimization
  • Indirectly reports to the leadership of both site execution and development growth teams.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
 
  • Responsible to ensure the short range plan execution is following the business plan outline.
  • Leadership and mentorship within planning teams.
