It demands people who will thrive in a culture that encourages and rewards innovation, collaboration and the ability to learn from success as well as failure.  We have a vacancy in the Sultanate of Oman for a Senior Well Services Engineer with proven experience in all aspects of well intervention, testing and completions. Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) is the major exploration and production company in the Sultanate. It accounts for about 90% of the country's crude-oil production and nearly all of its natural-gas supply. The first economic find of oil was made in 1962, and the first consignment of oil was exported in 1967.   Purpose   To manage the planning, programming, execution and evaluation of exploration Well Testing operations and production station metering checks via well test units

Responsibilities:


In this role you’ll manage a team of 4 engineers and be responsible for all activities of your assigned well test units (WTUs), with the principal focus being on safe operations at all times. Activities may include HPHT operations such as Slick-Line, including Coil Tubing Operations, stimulation, and nitrogen lifting etc.  Your duties will include ensuring written programs are available for all well tests to enable these to proceed safely, effectively and efficiently. You will interface with customers and other disciplines and conduct Testing the Well On Paper (TWOP’s) and After Action Reviews (AAR) for all well test programs.  Daily activities include:

  • Supervision from our coastal office in Muscat of daily activities and planning (including contingencies). Ensure equipment and personnel are available and are onsite avoiding unnecessary delays
  • Prepare approval documentation and raise revisions if required
  • Raise/approve Purchase Orders and ensure that purchasing processes are correctly carried out
  • Complete end of well reports. Maintain records and data in electronic format
  • Introduce novel “technology “ where applicable, to improve well test performance.

You will be expected to visit the WTU on a regular basis to update personnel of procedural or HSE changes and the like, and provide details of forthcoming tests. You role will also require you to participate in the weekend Well Testing and Fraccing Duty Roster.

  • Able to work under pressure and handle last minute changes due to programme updates or equipment failures/ non-availability
  • Able to communicate with customers and contractors to ensure well test is completed in a safe and timely manner
  • Confident to challenge conventional approaches and be able to deliver solutions to differing situations in a rapidly changing technical, commercial and social environment.



Requirements:


To be considered for this role you must possess at least a higher education Diploma (eg. HND or equivalent), but preferably a Bachelors Degree or higher, in a technical or engineering subject.  You will be a highly skilled technical professional with at least 10 years' experience in the planning, design and supervision of well servicing activities including but not limited to work-overs and abandonments, completions deployment, wellhead maintenance and field operations. We expect you to have several years of experience (at least 4) in well testing (preferably onshore).  A valid well intervention IWCF supervisors certificate is a mandatory requirement. Proven skills in HSE and team management are expected, as well as strengths in technical and commercial analysis, and proven abilities in contract management. Experience in working with SAP systems will be an advantage. The selected candidate will be encouraged to follow the Shell Group “Round 2” Distance Learning Program with the aim of obtaining this qualification within two years.
