Shell is currently seeking an HSS Advisor Froth* to work at the Fort McMurray Albian Sands mining project.

Responsibilities:


  • Full knowledge and understanding of OH&S Legislated employer responsibilities
  • Full knowledge and understanding of Albian’s Health & Safety Management System (HSMS)
  • Provide advice to Management and Team Members on OH&S Legislated responsibilities and adherence to Albian’s HSMS
  • Participate in work practice development, reviews and updates to ensure compliance to all OH&S legislated requirements and adherence to Albian’s HSMS
  • Conduct daily field tours to monitor compliance to Albian’s HSMS
  • Conduct routine audits of Albian’s Critical Work Practices
  • Participate in outside Audits of Health and Safety Systems as requested by HS Team Lead
  • Provide hands on Mentoring/Coaching to Team Members
  • Deliver Safety Training as assigned
  • Participate in safeguarding processes (HAZOP, Critical Task Analysis, PSSR, etc)
  • Participate in incident investigation and facilitate Root Cause Analysis
  • Participate HSE Case Bow-Tie Reviews



Requirements:


  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • No "fly in, fly out" option is offered with this position. Relocation to Fort McMurray is required
  • High School Diploma. Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or enrolled in program. CRSP designation or in preparation to obtain
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal
  • The ideal candidate will have experience working in operating in Mine environments. They will have a good background in Health and Safety System development and implementation. Will have Equipment Operating or Mechanic trade experience

 

The position has neither budgetary responsibility nor any Team Members reporting to them. This position works in a Team Setting with the HS Team

Physical Effort – Moderate to strenuous – duties typically require incumbent to do normal sitting, standing, walking, etc. Operations requires incumbent to be able to climb, squat, kneel, lift and bend on a repetitive basis without strain.

Physical Environment – activities in around equipment with possible exposure to extremely cold temperatures, steam, natural gas, gasoline, diesel, lubricant and / or welding fumes.

Sensory Attention – normal sensory attention and diversity of tasks. Regular radio contact with operators requires acute hearing sensitivity. Must be stand-by and/or available in case on incidents and emergencies.

Mental Stress – Normal.
